Shocking Fixes

Location: Jade/Juniper Bay parking area, Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park, Vernon BC (Map)

A 2 hour class for riders who want to improve their knowledge of suspension set up and emergency trail side bike repairs.

Shock Treatment

Improperly set up suspension can make a $5000 bike feel like a $250 department store special! Let the Happy Trails coaches show you how to get your bouncy bits working better so your bike rides how it was designed to.

You'll learn:

  • The correct use of a shock pump to adjust air pressure.
  • Measuring and setting sag (sag, huh? We'll teach that too).
  • How to adjust the rebound and compression settings to fine tune the feel of your ride.
  • Other tuning techniques, such as using volume spacers to adjust the feeling of an air spring.
  • How to balance your front and rear suspension for optimal traction and control.

Trail Side Bike Fixes

Don't be that rider doing the walk of shame out of Kal park...in the dark...in the rain..when you get a flat tire or a broken chain. Join us and learn to:

  • Change a flat tire and plug a puncture
  • Adjust your cockpit(stem, brake levers, gear shifter)
  • Replace a gear shifter cable
  • Repair a broken chain
  • Tighten a loose pedal
  • Replace a derailleur hanger

Bring:

  • Your bike, helmet and protective equipment, as you'll be doing some mellow riding to test your suspension settings
  • Any tools you usually carry in your pack
  • Shock pump, if you own one
  • Some snacks and water
  • Weather appropriate clothing

Read the Policies page before registering to ensure you are good with all the T&C's.
