Things to bring on your lesson:
- A mountain bike with front or dual suspension in safe working order
- Suitable clothing for the weather condition
- Food and water to keep you going for the duration of the course
- Bike helmet and any body protection you like to use
- A small gear pack with tools, pump, extra clothing etc. if you have one
- A positive attitude and willingness to try some new things :)
We perform an equipment safety check before each lesson and will not allow riders to participate if safety issues exist. Equipment failure can put you at risk of injury or cutting your lesson short. There are no refunds of your lesson fee due to equipment issues. Consider taking your bike to Olympia Cycle and Ski for a tune up if you are not comfortable performing your own maintenance.
Payment for private lessons can be made directly to your coach by e-transfer upon confirming your lesson date. There are no additional taxes or fees added to this cost.
We coach in nearly all weather. At our discretion, courses may be cancelled/deferred if unsafe conditions exist, where we feel our clients could be exposed to an unacceptable level of risk or discomfort. If we choose to cancel, your lesson will be refunded or re-booked for a future date.
Single and multi-day private/small group lessons are 100% non refundable, but can be deferred to a later date. Life happens, so we like to be flexible (within reason) to reschedule your lesson if necessary. We ask you please provide a few days notice before your lesson date if you can't make it.
19 is the minimum age required to attend our group courses. Younger participants may be considered for private coaching on a case by case basis.
Before taking a Happy Trails course, participants must sign our liability waiver. Those who refuse to sign a waiver cannot participate. By signing the document, you waive the right to sue 1) Happy Trails MTB Skills Development 2) Nick Brush 3) Eddie McKimmie for injuries incurred during or after our courses or private lessons. We’re here to help you become safer and more skilled mountain bikers, but wipe outs happen and sometimes you can get hurt.
Riding bikes in the forest while impaired on drugs (legal or not) or alcohol is not a fantastic idea. If our instructors believe a course member is intoxicated or hungover, we reserve the right to disallow their participation without providing a refund.
