Minimum Age of Participants
19 is the minimum age required to attend our group courses. Younger participants may be considered for private coaching, so please contact us to discuss.
Cancellations | Substitutions | Refunds
Up to 7 days before your course start time, we’ll refund your tuition, subject to a $25 cancellation fee.
Up to 72 hours before your course start time, we’ll refund 50% of your tuition (no $25 cancellation fee applies).
No refunds will be given for cancellation requests made within 72 hours of your course start time or if you have missed the course.
If you are unable to attend a course, we’ll let a friend participate in place of you, as long as the course is appropriate for them. This means that your brother Ricky can’t fill your spot in a female only class... or, if it is an intermediate level course, sending arthritic Aunt Mavis is not a solid choice. Substitution requests received within 48 hours of the course will not be accepted.
Full refunds or credit towards a future course will be given if provincial health orders restrict us from operating.
Weather | Drunks | Your Trashy Bike
We run our courses in nearly all weather conditions, so come prepared with appropriate clothing, a rad attitude and sufficient food/hydration. At our discretion, courses may be cancelled if unsafe conditions exist, where we feel our clients could be exposed to an unacceptable level of risk. For example, blizzards, forest fires, area closures, rabid chinchilla outbreaks…If we choose to cancel, full refunds will be provided and you can re-book for another date.
Riding bikes in the forest while impaired on drugs (legal or not) and/or alcohol is not a fantastic idea. If our instructors recognize that a course member is intoxicated(in whatever form) or too hungover to ride, we reserve the right to disallow their participation without providing a refund. Save the beers for after the ride.
We will perform an equipment safety check before each class and will not allow riders to participate in a class if safety issues exist with their bike. Equipment failure puts everyone at risk of being injured. Consider taking your bike to one of our great local shops for a tune up beforehand.
Booking | Payments | Emails
We use Eventbrite to book and manage our group clinics. Payments can be made only by credit card.
We accept payment for our custom lessons only by e-transfer or cash. E-Transfer payments must be made at the time of arranging your lesson. If you are paying cash, you can meet up with Nick or Eddie within 24 hours of registering. These payment types are subject to the refund conditions stated above.
There are no fees or taxes charged in addition to the stated price of our courses.
Bikehappytrails.ca, doesn’t store your email address, credit card or any other personal information. This information is kept on Eventbrite though, so by using their service you agree to their user policies.
We will email you occasionally with information about the course you signed up for or to announce upcoming courses we think you'll like. By signing up for a course with Happy Trails, you consent to us sending you the occasional email. Let us know if you don't want to be contacted and we'll remove your name from future mailings.
Liability Waiver
Before taking a Happy Trails course, all participants must sign our liability waiver. Those who refuse to sign a waiver cannot participate. By signing the document, you waive the right to sue 1) Happy Trails MTB Skills Development 2) Nick Brush 3) Eddie McKimmie for injuries incurred during or after our courses. We’re here to help you become safer and more skilled mountain bikers, but wipe outs happen and sometimes you will get hurt...just don't blame us for that.
Be honest with yourself when registering for a course and do not book something that is going to be way over your head. Before signing up, read the course description and rider ability levels. If you are unsure of what you should book, fire us an email so we can help with your decision.
